"Prawns Kizhi"
I was confused about what should I try today in my kitchen, so at that correct point of time came to witness one simple but of course one really yummy recipe. But I had never tried preparing something with fish, so this was quite a challenge for me as a lockdown chef. When I first saw the recipe I thought it was that simple but after starting it was like then I realized that it was not that easy I saw.
First, we have to clean the prawns properly and add Salt to taste according to one's preference, Turmeric, and Chilly Powder and thus mix it properly and keep it for marination for about 15 minutes.
After that take a non-stick frypan and add oil to it and wait for the oil to be hot, now add the marinated prawns and fry it properly for about 2 mins. So once the prawns are fried take it and keep it aside, now in the same pan put some garlic and ginger and cook it for some time. Now add the onions onto it and stir properly, add enough salt, turmeric, chilly powder, pepper powder and mix it nicely. After that add few green chilies and curry leaves. Once these are properly cooked add tomatoes onto it and cook it for some time. After a few minutes, a nice yummy smell reaches our nostrils which indicates that our masala is ready and hot.
Now take a banana leaf and serve a few amounts of masala onto it and put some fried prawns above it and on top of that again fill it with the masala and repeat the step. Now we have to tie the banana leaf as a kizhi that's what we call it in Kerala. Now its time for some final touches to put the kizhi in a steam cooker and steam it for about 10 minutes. After 10 minutes our special dish "Prawns Kizhi" is ready to serve.
