Nadan Kerala Beef Curry
Beef and Kerala have a special connection, so here I am sharing one special Nadan Kerala Beef Curry recipe. Usually, the beef curry/gravy prepared in Kerala households is mostly spicy in flavor with lots of natural pepper being one of the main ingredients which give the beef curry a special spiciness.
Beef is not like chicken it takes a few hours to get properly cooked as the first point is getting good and fresh beef so that it cooks faster maybe in an hour or two. So first we should wash the beef properly and then marinate it for about an hour, so let's see the ingredients that we use to marinate the beef.
The preparation time totally depends on the quality of the beef we get, if it's really fresh then it takes only a few hours to get properly cooked.
Ingredients For Marination
1. Pepper ( According to the beef quantity )
2. Turmeric
3. Coriander Powder
4. Kashmiri Chilly
5. Salt ( As per taste )
Now marinate the beef nicely with these Indian spices and let it rest for an hour. After that take an earthen pot or even we can use a cooker to cook the beef, so I am using an earthen pot and at a low flame and adding 2 glass of water and let the beef get cooked nicely. Until the beef gets cooked completely let's prepare the beef masala.
Ingredients For Masala
1. Onions ( Small ) - 2/3
2. Ginger Garlic Paste
3. Green Chilly - 6/7
4. Tomatoes - 4/5
5. Coriander Powder
6. Turmeric
Now pour a little amount of oil in a pan add the sliced onions and let it get sorted for a while and then add the ginger-garlic paste and mix it nicely for few minutes until the onions turn brownish. Add the green chilies into it and let the spice flavor get submerged with the onions, once that's done add the sliced tomatoes and blend it nicely with the onions.
It's time to add the masala's, so first let's put a little bit of coriander powder, Chilly Powder, and salt as per taste, and now mix it until the masala is nicely blended with the onions and tomatoes and now its been some time and our beef is perfectly cooked. There is a bit of water left with the beef and thus I am draining the water from the beef and pouring it into the hot masala which is the pure essence of this mouth-watering beef curry.
As the spicy masala gravy is almost set and I am adding the hot cooked soft beef and stirring it nicely for about 10 minutes. There comes the arousing smell once the beef and masala are combined thus letting us know the Nadan beef curry is almost ready. I am letting it cook for about 5 minutes and thus our beef curry is ready to serve.
This Nadan Kerala Beef Curry is one of the favorite dishes that can be seen served in Kerala in almost all houses especially the Christian communities. Hot and crispy Porota and Beef is something that Kerala people would love to eat every day and night, there is nothing in this world to beat this combination, but this spicy beef curry can be served with some hot white rice as well.
